Meet Alex Mendez

Alex Mendez’s journey in Paterson began with the opportunity to invest in residential properties. His successful business in real estate granted him the financial freedom to purchase his transportation business.  As a business owner, Alex Mendez has mastered managing budgets, closing contracts, and operating multimillion dollar ventures. 

1995-2000

  • Completed a certificate program in Financial Planning and Insurance Producer.

2006

  • Fox School of Real Estate- completed studies to become a realtor.

Present Employment

  • Alex Mendez is a fulltime Realtor for Empire Realty

  • President of a transportation company based out of Secaucus, New Jersey

Civic Involvement

2010

  • Alex Mendez was elected as a Commissioner of the Paterson Board of Education where he served as Vice President of the board. He dedicated an average of 20-30 hours a week addressing the critical issues that our children encounter daily in our school system.

2013

  • Re-elected as Commissioner on the Paterson Board of Education

2014- 2018

  • Elected as Councilman at Large in the City of Paterson

2015

  • Elected as Vice President of the city council

2020

  • Elected as 3rd Ward Councilman

2022

  • Elected as President of Paterson City

Council

2024

  • Re-Elected as 3rd ward councilman of Paterson City Council

  • Re-Elected as President of Paterson City Council

Alex Mendez has been an active community leader at the forefront of the many battles affecting our communities. Just a few ways Alex Mendez has contributed to our city:

  • Brought the Matt ESL program – teaching our community English totally free.

  • Crime Prevention Awareness in conjunction with the Passaic County Sheriff’s department.

  • Annual school supply giveaway where we have provided school supplies to city children.
